Description

I was drawn to this pattern by Pam Allen because it reminded me a bit of the beautiful knits featured in Outlander. I modified this cowl to be a bit shorter, so less of a hood in the back. I’m pretty sure Claire would have worn one of these in the Scottish highlands or the North Carolina colony of the mid-1700s. I knit this in Cestari Traditional Collection (100% wool) in Blackberry for a textured, rustic look. Sometimes specks of hay or straw remain in this yarn. CEO and Shepherd of Cestari Sheep and Wool Company, Francis Chester says, “if you put his yarn to your ears, you can almost hear the sounds of life within it”.

Care: Machine Wash Cold Gentle Cycle or Hand Wash Cold. Reshape, Air Dry Flat. Do Not Tumble Dry. Do Not Dry Clean in Order to Retain Natural Lanolin Oils in Wool. Do Not Bleach.
