Knitting my love this sweater for Christmas (I let/made her try it on early) felt like an act of rebellion. A rebellion against speed and efficiency, consumerism, fast fashion, plastic, toys, accumulation, dissociation, comparison and pressure to keep up. On the other hand, it felt like a connection. Connection to a craft, to the soft wool, to the past, to my grandma who taught me to knit, to my daughter who I knit for, and to myself.
