About

The Blackburnian Warbler is a beautiful bird—a bird that captures my imagination and stirs my creativity. Just knowing that such a bird exists is enough to lift one’s heart in a celebration of beauty, joy, healing, wholeness, and hope.

Imagine this little ball of feathers making great migrations from the mountain forests of the Andes, to arrive north each spring like a gem gracing the green treetops. And then, this beauty may perch, pause…and lift it’s beak skyward and sing—alighting the top of the highest spruce spire in a flame and song. Oh my…

My name is Kate. Finding birds’ nests is one of my favourite things. Chasing dragonflies is up there too. Nature through kids’ eyes makes me smile. Fresh water lakes, forests and canoes feel like home and more. I like growing things—chlorophyll green is just pure life.  And being a mom is the best.

I imagine this website will be a celebration of nature, and the turn of the seasons with my family, but also some other things I get joy and inspirations from: children’s books, learning and being a guide in learning, poetry, art, story, creating and making, and moving my body.

Thanks for stopping by, Kate
